Copyright and License
Clear licensing terms that protect authors while enabling broad knowledge sharing.
Open Access Licensing
JGRC publishes all articles under Creative Commons licensing, ensuring your research reaches the widest audience while maintaining author rights and proper attribution.
Authors retain full copyright of their work when publishing with the Journal of Plant Genetics and Crop Research. We do not require copyright transfer. Instead, authors grant JGRC a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive their work under open access terms. This approach protects author rights while enabling unrestricted scholarly communication.
Author Rights: You maintain the right to share, reuse, and build upon your own work without restrictions. Copyright remains with you as the creator.
All JGRC articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license allows anyone to:
- Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial
- Attribution: Users must give appropriate credit and indicate any changes made
Author Self-Archiving
Authors may deposit published articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, or preprint servers.
Educational Use
Articles may be freely used in teaching, coursework, and educational materials with proper citation.
Text Mining
Computational analysis and data extraction are permitted under CC BY terms.
Translation
Articles may be translated with attribution to the original publication.
Authors are responsible for obtaining necessary permissions for third-party content (figures, tables, images) included in their manuscripts. Permission details should be acknowledged and documented. CC BY licensing applies only to original content created by the authors.
Open licensing maximizes research impact by removing barriers to access and reuse:
- Increased citations through unrestricted sharing
- Broader reach to practitioners, policymakers, and the public
- Compliance with funder open access mandates
- Enhanced collaboration opportunities across borders
JGRC's CC BY 4.0 licensing meets requirements from major agricultural research funders including USDA, European Commission, and national research councils. Our open access model satisfies mandates requiring immediate public access to funded research results.
