The Journal of Hypertension and Cardiology (JHC; ISSN 2329-9487) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by Open Access Pub. It publishes original clinical, epidemiological, and translational research on hypertension and cardiovascular disease — from bedside diagnosis and management to the mechanisms and prevention behind them. Every article is published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license with a permanent Crossref DOI, free to read and cite from the day it appears. Publishing since 2013.
A durable, open record for cardiovascular research
The Journal of Hypertension and Cardiology exists to give clinical and scientific work in cardiovascular medicine a permanent, openly accessible home. Hypertension and cardiovascular disease remain among the most consulted questions in everyday medicine, and the evidence that informs them is generated everywhere — in tertiary cardiology centres and in district hospitals, in laboratory studies and in community cohorts. JHC publishes that work so it can be read, cited, and built upon without a subscription barrier.
The journal’s role is threefold. It evaluates — each submission is assessed by editors and reviewers who work in hypertension and cardiovascular medicine, so that what is published has been examined by people who understand the field. It preserves — every accepted article is registered with Crossref under ISSN 2329-9487 and issued a permanent DOI, fixing a stable version of record that stays findable long after publication. And it disseminates — because articles are open access under CC BY, they are free for any clinician, researcher, trainee, or reader to consult, share, and reuse with attribution.
A note on scope of use. JHC reports research; it does not offer medical advice. Articles describe studies, cases, and analyses for a professional and scientific readership, and nothing published in the journal is a substitute for the judgement of a qualified clinician caring for an individual patient.
The cardiovascular questions JHC considers
JHC’s scope spans the clinical and translational breadth of cardiovascular medicine. In brief, the journal considers work across:

Article types the journal accepts
JHC publishes five article types. Preparation requirements for each are given in the Instructions for Authors.
- Research Articles — original clinical, epidemiological, or laboratory studies presenting new findings.
- Review Articles — critical, structured syntheses of the evidence on a defined cardiovascular topic.
- Case Reports — instructive single cases or short series with clear clinical or diagnostic learning points.
- Editorials — commentary and perspective on developments in hypertension and cardiovascular medicine.
- Clinical Case Images — concise, well-documented images with the clinical context needed to interpret them.
Who the journal is for
Because JHC is fully open access, everything it publishes is free to read without a subscription — so its audience is broad by design.

How submissions are reviewed
Every manuscript submitted to JHC is handled by editors who work in hypertension and cardiovascular medicine. An editor first checks that a submission fits the journal’s scope and meets its basic requirements; suitable manuscripts are then sent for Single-blind (double-blind on request) peer review, in which independent expert reviewers assess the work before an editorial decision. Editorial decisions rest with the journal’s editors, informed by reviewer assessments — not with the publisher’s commercial staff.
These editors work alongside an international board of cardiovascular clinicians and researchers who provide subject expertise across the journal’s scope.
The standards behind what we publish
JHC’s value rests on the integrity of what it publishes. The journal is committed to the following principles, set out in full on the Editorial Policies page.
Research integrity & ethics
- Ethical conduct of research — studies involving people or animals are expected to have appropriate ethics approval and, where relevant, informed consent, reported in the manuscript.
- Patient privacy — identifiable patient information, including in case reports and clinical case images, requires appropriate consent and is handled to protect confidentiality.
- Honest reporting — the journal expects accurate, complete reporting and takes concerns about plagiarism, data integrity, authorship, or undisclosed conflicts seriously, correcting or retracting the record where warranted.
- Declared interests — authors are asked to disclose funding and competing interests so readers can weigh them.
Transparency & clinical responsibility
- Peer review, stated plainly — Single-blind (double-blind on request), with independent expert review before any editorial decision.
- Evidence-based communication — articles report what the underlying studies support; the journal avoids overstated claims and does not present research findings as treatment recommendations for individual patients.
- A permanent, correctable record — every article carries a Crossref DOI, and corrections are linked to the version of record so the literature stays reliable.
- Open and reusable — content is open access under CC BY, free to read, share, and self-archive with attribution.
Free to read, yours to keep
JHC is a fully open-access journal. Every article is free to read and download the moment it is published — there is no subscription and no paywall. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license, which means anyone may share and reuse the work, including in teaching and further research, provided the original authors are credited. Authors retain copyright of their own work. A single article processing charge of USD $2,100 applies only if a manuscript is accepted; there is no submission fee, and the same charge covers every article type.
Published by Open Access Pub
The Journal of Hypertension and Cardiology is published by Open Access Pub, an open-access scholarly publisher. Open Access Pub provides the infrastructure that surrounds the journal — the online submission system, professional production and typesetting, permanent hosting, Crossref DOI registration, and long-term availability of the published record.
The journal’s scholarly direction, however, rests with its own editors: scope, peer review, and editorial decisions belong to JHC’s Editor-in-Chief, executive editors, and editorial board, not to the publisher’s commercial staff. This separation is deliberate — it keeps decisions about what JHC publishes in the hands of people who work in cardiovascular medicine.
