JHC considers peer-reviewed work on hypertension and cardiovascular medicine across clinical, basic, epidemiological, and translational settings. The journal is for evidence-led research, not personal medical advice.
Is my manuscript a fit?
A suitable submission has a central hypertension, cardiovascular, vascular, or cardiometabolic research question and explains why its evidence is relevant to this field.
Usually a good fit
Work that links a clear cardiovascular question to sound methods, transparent reporting, and clinically, biologically, or population-relevant interpretation.
May need a fit check
Interdisciplinary work whose cardiovascular relevance is not immediately clear. Explain the link in the cover letter and manuscript framing.
Usually outside scope
Work without a central hypertension, cardiovascular, vascular, or cardiometabolic question, or without sufficient scientific or clinical relevance.

Study approaches and article types
The current JHC scope describes original research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, clinical case reports, review articles, short communications, letters, and invited expert perspectives.
Research approaches
Clinical, laboratory, epidemiological, basic-science, and translational approaches are considered when their methods and reporting support the question being asked.
Reporting
Use the reporting guidance that fits the study design, including CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, or CARE where applicable.
