Biography
Dr. Jianhui Zhang is a Research Technician at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, with a PhD from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology. His research spans diverse areas of genomics and molecular biology, including chloroplast and mitochondrial genome sequencing, comparative genomics in crops such as Brassica juncea and Camelina sativa, DNA barcoding in eukaryotes, and transcriptomic responses to environmental stresses in plants. His most-cited work involves CRISPR-mediated enhancement of oil accumulation in yellow seed Camelina sativa through disruption of the Transparent Testa 8 gene, published in 2024 with 21 citations. Dr. Zhang has also contributed to the development of bioinformatics tools for genome annotation and visualization, as well as studies on lipid biosynthesis, medicinal fungi genomics, and molecular signaling in honey bees and poultry.
