Cartilage Defects

Cartilage defects are abnormalities in the structure of the cartilage tissue found in the body. Cartilage is a smooth and pliable connective tissue that cushions bones and other structures, helping to reduce friction and providing support for movement. Defects incartilage can lead to joint instability, impaired movement, and chronic pain. Cartilage defects can be caused by injury, infection, or disease, and can lead to various musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus. Treatment for cartilage defects depends on the severity and location of the defect, but can include physical therapy, medications, steroid injections, or surgery to repair or replace the damaged cartilage. Understanding cartilage defects and their effects can help to better diagnose and treat musculoskeletal disorders, improving the quality of life for those affected.
